Carrie – Listia All-star of the Week!

This week’s  Listia All-star is Carrie from Wisconsin! Carrie is a stay-at-home mom and has been a member of Listia for over five years which means she’s been with us nearly since the beginning. Let’s find out more about her!

10610867_10204658991971436_2785198366035087162_n

What do you enjoy doing for fun?
I love to hunt, fish, kayak, read and love scary movies.

What has been your favorite thing that you’ve won on Listia?
I have won lots of name-brand clothes for my daughter on Listia saving me tons of money.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you’d do or buy?
If I won the lottery I would buy a home in the country with lots of outdoor toys like ATVs, wave-runners and more!

What’s been your favorite thing about Listia?
Everything. I enjoy meeting new people and adding surprise extra treats once in a while to make someone’s day.

How has Listia inspired you?
Listia inspired me because I used to sell on another auction site for 20 years but after a while the fees just got outrageous. Listia doesn’t charge me so its easy to keep doing what I love. Shipping is already expensive enough & adding sellers fees just takes all the fun out of selling. Listia made it fun again!! Thank you Listia.

Thank you Carrie for sharing your story! We’re grateful to have people like her in our community since the beginning! If you’d like to share your story about Listia email us at ilove@listia.com . Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more stories and announcements!

  1. I wish Listia reduce the price of the credits. $20K per dollar is so awful when we’re just posting our items with a lil bit of credits. Not Fair!

  2. Listia fucking sucks. I basically gave away about 15 sports cards (80$). because I wouldn’t my own money to buy insurance to mail stuff that I basically gave away. then they banned my account and wont refund my money that I spent on their credits. I have been robbed by Listia. Sorry motherfuckers.

    • I hear ya , I was paying for my credits and got well over a million , now im I’m suspended, tried to contact them and all I got was try another browser , its not the browser its them , so pissed ,

  3. WTF LISTIA !!!!

Get ready for every auction starting at 1 M soon… lol
Im just spending my points and looking for a new site. So sad that Listia can’t see what they are doing to their site.

  4. Someone has a $5.00 Target Gift Card up for auction. They are asking 222,222 GIN.
By today’s calculations $1.00 =20800 points. IF the person is stupid enough to buy it with GIN.. they will be spending over $10.00 for a $5.00 gift card.. What kind of a deal is that? Pay Over twice as much for something worth 1/2 as much.?!?! WTF Listia…
you are killing your own site by ignoring this problem.
Wake up and smell the horse manure.

  5. Wow, another New Listia High !! When will it ever end or will the site go ker plunk ?

No Surprise here…. Listia just doesn’t give a rats a** about the sellers and buyers.. all they care about is the CASH that they are getting before their site goes Kaput!! Oh well, it was good while it lasted…

  16. Problem is that nobody is complaining. It’s just a handfull of sellers out of thousands, posting these messages. If nobody cares, why should they??! There has to be a coordinated protest from a nice percentage of sellers so that Listia Staff should want to change their system. For now though, all’s good for them!
For sellers? Well, I should say I haven’t sold a thing since I raised the prices of my items (to cover expenses)… Listia is def. losing out!

    • If Listia had a complaint link, I’m sure there would others who would protest. Right now were posting complaints on “Carrie loves Listia” article! People can’t find a link that goes straight to there customer service!!

      • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on member support. Then submit a support ticket with your complaint. I have sent them several messages, but it doesn’t do any good.

    • Crackerjack9 says:

I have to be honest…I haven’t raised my prices and I offer free shipping and I have been USUALLY getting what my items are worth or more. I make beaded jewelry, like my bracelets, which (the last 2) sold for the equivelant of $7 and $9. The free shipping more than makes up for the inflation. And I can ship most of my items for less than $3 a package *with tracking*…around $2.56. I think the free shipping is what makes it worth it for me.

BUT, I have to agree that some sellers are OUTRAGEOUS with their GIN prices! Asking thousands and even MILLIONS for cheap stuff and NOT offering free shipping is RIDICULOUS!

  17. A NEW HIGH AGAIN !!! WHEN WILL THIS STUPIDITY EVER END??!?!?

    Current rate:
    23,000 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 4, 2016 at 6:35pm)

  18. Well, it is clearly obvious that Listia doens’t care about their sellers and ONLY care about the CASH they can get from people that buy their credits because they keep raising and raising the $ to point value higher and higher with no end in site.
The only end is going to be when the site has no more sellers and no more buyers… and they will be scratching their heads wondering.. “where did we go wrong” DUH… people have been commenting on this problem for over 6 months but they just have their blinders on and just keep laughing their way to the bank as people cash in their points and also buy their points.
Oh well, can’t say we didn’t try.

    ANOTHER ALL TIME HIGH !!!

    Current rate:
    23,100 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 6, 2016 at 10:41am)

  19. Another ALL TIME HIGH… Just like the New President of the USA… We are all Doomed like Listia !!

    Current rate:
    23,500 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 10, 2016 at 1:31am)

  21. How does Listia set the exchange rate?!! It would be nice if someone from the company would reply to these questions!

  22. I think they roll dice to see how much to raise it since every time you roll dice, you will get a number. (It never goes down for a long period of time)

Oh.. just FYI.. A NEW LISTIA HIGH AGAIN !!!

    Current rate:
    24,000 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 10, 2016 at 12:54pm)

  23. A New High again today!! When will Listia realize that they are only hurting themselves by making the Sellers leave the site.
Eventually the people buying the points (Newbies) will realize that even when they buy the point, a day or week later, it won’t be worth the same amount as they paid because of the inflation. Oh well, Listia will just keep laughing their way to the bank until there is no more Listia. How Sad… !!

    Current rate:
    24,100 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 10, 2016 at 11:09pm)

  24. WTF LIStIA !!! I GUESS THEY REALLY DON’T GIVE A SH*T ABOUT THE OLD TIME SELLERS.. LETS JUST KEEP RAISING THE PRICE UNTIL the $1.00 is worth NOTHING At ALL.

    Current rate:
    25,000 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 11, 2016 at 6:36pm)

  25. Anybody else just here to watch the site dig their hole deeper and deeper into the ground? Maybe by chance they will dig their hole so deep they will come out on the other end of the world? But won’t they be upside down? LOL

Sad to report that another all time High… blah blah blah…. you know the story

Keep the rates low for us to enjoy a level playing ground. As of now, things aren’t going in the direction many of us had anticipated. Kindly salvage the sinking ship in which we’re sailing.

  34. REALLY DISGUSTED says:

What a joke, we keep asking for them to lower it.. and they just keep raising it..WTF !!!

    Current rate:
    27,100 Credits / US$1

  35. The higher it goes up.. the quicker more people will leave and the more money Listia will stuff in their pockets. I think they are stuffing their pockets for Christmas and will worry about Listia Next year 2017 if the site is still around…. So Sad… if things keep going the way they have been… by the new year… $1.00 will be worth 30,000 !!! What a JOKE !!.

    Current rate:
    27,200 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 20, 2016 at 2:28am)

    • Actually, it’s the credit sellers who make the credit ratio go up. When you sell credits, you get to decide how much you want to sell them for. But if you set that price lower than the current credit value, your credits won’t sell. So people set their sale price at the current sale rate, or slightly above it. This in turn makes the credit ratio higher. I have messaged listia several times asking them to set reasonable selling price limits for the sellers so the credit inflation can be gotten under control. But I have never gotten a real reply from them. I just get the “form letter” message saying all suggestions are taken under consideration. I think the credit selling feature is a great idea, but it needs to be regulated more. Either set fixed sale prices for all sellers and sell them in the order the offers are received, or let the seller choose his sale price, BUT put reasonable limits on what they can charge, thus keeping the credit inflation under control. The credit ration right now is 27,400/$1, which means if you sell 100,000 credits, you only get $2.92 after listia takes their 20% transaction fee. That’s ridiculous!

  36. I can’t believe that Listia is sooo NAIVE that they cant realize that they are just going to kill their own site when they keep raising the point value without offsetting the other fees.
etc, to help keep the balance. WTF !!! JUST FYI, $100.00 is now worth 2,800,000 POINTS if you buy your points. UN FRICKEN REAL for Sellers and the Listia members that build up their credits by their hard work.

    Current rate:
    28,000 Credits / US$1
    (as of Nov 21, 2016 at 11:35pm)

  37. Thinking with their Heads up their A** says:

A year late and 20K worth of points too late. Even if they Cap it at 27500, last year in Sept 2015, the $1.00 was worth around 5K. And now it’s 27,500 !! They would have to reduce it down 20K and im positive they won’t do that anytime in the near future. So right now we are stuck between a rock and a cow pie without a shovel to cover the sh*t that they created. It’s going to take more than a CAP to fix this problem that they created. I agree it’s a start, but it’s a start that should have started 10 months ago.
    Oh well.

  38. First I bid on over 25 auctions and it did not log one for completing the goal. Please fix this. Second a goal says invite 5 friends but it does not say they have to join. They have to join too right? You don’t get the goal completed unless they join. Last year the goals stated the friends had to join.

  39. Peggy Bolling says:

OK I guess I’m not getting it? Why is everyone bitching about the 1.00 to credits ratio? I love getting more credits for my money!!!! Also common sense goes along way. Why pay millions of credits for something you can get half price in the stores. This is a fun site so everyone can get rid of things they don’t want and spend their credits on things they do want. It’s whiners like you that suck all the fun out of things! Put on your big girl panties/big boy fruit of the looms and suck it up buttercup!!!! STOP COMPLAINING! No One has forced you to stay and play. You’re not happy, delete your account, DUH!

    • Common sense? or lack of...? says:

If you don’t see it, then I wouldn’t talk about common sense. Even if you buy your credits…. did you realize that if you bought $10 worth of points back in May 2016,
you would have received about 12,000 credits, and compared to Nov 2016, that same $10 buck you would have received 28,000 points. (So you basically lost 16,000 points) If you don’t see a problem with that, then keep throwing your $$ away. Also if you haven’t noticed, that sellers either left, or raised their prices or offered less items to compensate for the inflation. Inflation doesn’t just hurt the sellers, it hurts the buyers, and everyone EXCEPT Listia that GETS CASH when people buy their credits, gets cash for the ads and banners, etc.
I guess some people just don’t get it…. Oh well.

      • Peggy Bolling says:

ok can you explain it to me in dummy terms then? How did I lose 16,000 points? I got 16,000 more points for my money? Oh and btw I hardly buy credits, but it’s my money and i’ll do what i want with it. Like I said, some people just suck the fun out of everything

      • The increase did not hurt me, I spend them as fast as I earned them, you win some and you lose some, if you read the rules you are supposed to be giving stuff away that you list? O WAAAAA you out bid me, i`m not going to be your fan anymore!!!!!

  40. Common sense? or lack of...? says:

You didn’t lose 16,000 points, I said IF… IF… IF… you bought point earlier, the VALUE of the points would drop because Listia was constantly raising the value amount every single day. You can do what you want with your own money.. nobody else cares if you burn it, eat it, or buy your points, Do whatever you want with it. Since you don’t see how the way Listia was handling the inflation, then buy more points, cause they will gladly take your money without a blink of an eye. And it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand… all that matters is that Listia FINALLY Put a cap on the inflation after months of people complaining and they Finally got wise and figured out that they were just killing their own site. Sometimes things get done when people make comments, and then again, other time when some people make comments………

    • Peggy Bolling says:

I didn’t say i lost any points. You don’t have to be so rude. Doesn’t matter what they set the points(credits) at, sellers are going to set the prices they want. I got most of mine auctioning my things off starting at 499. Anyhow most opinions are like butt holes, everybody has one and most of them stink!!

      • Some people are sooo rude and naive says:

ummm speaking of butt holes.. if you can’t remember what you typed.. then don’t deny it and call everyone else a butt hole.
Your exact comment from your post:” ok can you explain it to me in dummy terms then? How did I lose 16,000 points?”
And I wasn’t being rude, but when someone calls you a butthole.. well, it’s time for you to look in a mirror.
Even if you started your auctions at 499 and it went up to 25,000 points, after you ship out your item and pay for postage (Even first class mail .47 cents and NOT INCLUDING TRACKING) do you realize that you only made LESS than .50 cents with the cost of the points being so high. ($1.00 = 27,500 points) or do i have to do the math for you too?
And if you received less than that.. then you basically just gave your item away for free and the points are worth squat.
BUTT… if that is your thing.. to each to own… then.. ENJOY…Happy Holidays.. and keep making Listia Rich.

    • you do not understand the math & if you are so disgusted why are you still here?

  41. Hoping To See Changes For The Better says:

I don’t get it. This new system, they don’t allow you to transfer the money to PayPal before you have at least $20 in the account holding by them!!! I need to wait 20 days to get credits for an item that FINALLY sells (because the credits are too high for buyers to appreciate) and after 20 days I FINALLY get my credits, and now I need to wait YET AGAIN to FINALLY get my money!! Oh, well….

  42. Larry Sanders says:

I agree with everyone on here about the credits being too high!! I first download listia 3 years ago it was fun & everything was great. I stopped bidding & selling for about a year & everything has went to hell!! I guess listia & some sellers on here are worried about the almighty dollar instead of the people!! Most people on here have just lost there minds & wish it would get a little more reasonable!!

Carrie – Listia All-star of the Week! October 5, 2016 by ericklistia

It’s the end of March, 5, 2017. Have there been no other
“Listia All-stars of the Week” since five months ago? LOL

  48. Minnie Stumph says:

I am both a buyer and seller of both credits and merchandise on Listia. Yes inflation has affected Listia just as it does everything over time. There are concerns about the rising credits, please keep in mind that Listia lets you sell as well as buy credits. When there are more credits being sold than bought this throws off the equilibrium of supply and demand. Imagine when everyone is selling their credits but yet no members are buying credits…whose pocket do you suppose that money comes out of? not ours. I buy credits as often as I can to help balance the credit ratio for the greater good of this site and all its members.

Another thing yes; overhead is high and I get a lot less credits for what I list on here and have had to change and adjust the merchandise I deal somewhat to account for that, but just imagine what Listia’s overhead is. I look at it this way….if I were to try and get my merchandise seen by the masses as it is here on this site it would cost me an arm and a leg just for the advertising alone elsewhere. Therefore, I consider this site a great way to advertise to the masses along with all the other perks it has to offer, as well as being a friendly community…and I for one am grateful to be here.

    • perfectly said!! We have the option of fixed price which I use..People do not understand the math & they do not make a profit..I do not get rich but I have over 700 happy winners in 5 years & it equals to about 90% off retail price

I do surveys & videos for another 500,000+ credits a month which covers listing & perk fees plus something towards shipping & a few extra credits to spend..It is a much higher profit when the credit ratio went up

Thank you Listia for 5 wonderful years 🙂

  49. Crackerjack9 says:

Well, to Carrie, congrats on your “All Star” win! Good for you! As far as credits go, I think it’s a vicious circle. People selling credits keep trying to get as many credits as possible so they keep raising prices. Members with outrageous GIN prices…well, I’ve just seen some crazy prices. You’d think they’d want people to actually bid on their items and not price them so high.

I start ALL my auctions at 100 credits. I’ve taken a few small losses, but for the most part, I get plenty of credits. The free shipping always helps, too. want to give everyone a chance and I’d rather have my fellow Listians dictate the cost of a credit, not thw Big Wigs.

  50. Thanks for sharing Carrie.
I am a country girl too from NH. I am Inspired to be on Listia once again. There have been a lot of changes since I first started but I am excited to be back!
    Congrats btw *-*
