Cyber Week 2021!

November is here again and that means it’s time for another Cyber Week! This year we’re doing a full Points giveaway for all the prizes and there are 37 total clues to unlock (3 more than usual)!

The crossword rules and format are similar to all previous crossword promotions, but just in case you’re new or you’ve forgotten, the details are below. Since there are split prizes, you’ll want to keep answers to yourselves instead of sharing them 😉  We’ll do our best to remove published answers where we can, but let everyone have fun and try to figure out the answers to the crossword. It’s not meant to be SUPER hard, but it is meant to be fun!

Cyber Week Crossword Promo Details

To get to the puzzle on 11/29/21 click the “Cyber Week!” link at the top of the Listia web site, or click the “Cyber Week!” link in the menu of either of our mobile apps.

  • Live 11/29/21 through 12/6/21 (PST)
  • Unlock the crossword puzzle by sharing on Facebook or Twitter
  • Once shared, one clue in the crossword puzzle should be unlocked
  • Special Listia Crossword goals will be released every day throughout the promotion. Each of these goals will unlock a certain number of crossword puzzle clues and may even reward you with Points.
  • Listing goal categories: Electronics, Health & Beauty, Clothing/Shoes & Accessories, Collectibles, Toys & Hobbies, and Video Games
  • Once the clues are unlocked you may enter the answers in the crossword puzzle
  • Each time you successfully answer sets of crossword puzzle clues you will be automatically eligible to win 6 different tiered prizes
    • 5 Answers – 10 random members that answer 5 clues will win 1,000 PTS
    • 10 Answers – 5 random members that answer 10 clues will win 5,000 PTS
    • 16 Answers – 5 random members that answers 16 clues will win 10,000 PTS
    • 22 Answers
      • 3 random members that answer 22 clues will win 15,000 PTS
      • 50,000 PTS will be distributed evenly amongst everyone that answers 22 clues (eg if 100 members qualify, each person will get 1,000 PTS)
    • 28 Answers – 2 random member that answers 28 clues will win 25,000 PTS
    • 37 Answers
      • 1 random members that answer all 37 clues will win 50,000 PTS
      • 100,000 PTS will be distributed evenly amongst everyone that answers all 37 clues (eg if 100 members fully complete the crossword puzzle, each person will get 1,000 PTS)
  • There are 37 total clues, but there will be enough goals to unlock ~54 clues (you don’t have to do EVERY Listia Crossword goal to complete the puzzle)
  • The last Listia Crossword goals will be live on 12/6/21 (PST). Once these goals end, the contest is over and you will no longer be able to unlock clues or enter answers.
  • Winners will be chosen 1-2 weeks after the promotion ends and will be contacted via Zendesk ticket or Listia private message for information about your prize!

Welcome EXP!

If you’ve checked in to Listia or opened one of our apps, you probably noticed EXP has launched! EXP is a rebranding of our benefits program where members get discounts and bonuses based on their Listia activity. Thank you for being loyal Listia members and we appreciate your patience with any issues you’ve come across with the switch! Please let us know if you see any bugs by sending us a ticket.

EXP replaces Props

EXP is a direct replacement for Props. For everyone that has earned Pending Props, we have issued the equivalent amount of EXP to get you to the same benefits level. You’ll see a “Listia Member EXP” grant in your EXP activity page and your level should be the same or better than your Props level as of 11/9/21. EXP are internal experience points used for our member benefits program, are not redeemable, and can not be taken off Listia.

EXP earning, levels, and benefits

The way you earn EXP and the benefits you get are the same as before so there is no change there. The amount of EXP that you earn is slightly different than the amount of Pending Props you used to earn. The amount of Pending Props earned for each action used to vary based on the market rate of Props at any given moment. We’ve simplified the program and the earned EXP amounts will be consistent from day to day. Because of this you’ll probably notice that you have a larger EXP balance and level requirement compared to the previous program with Props. Just know that you’ll be earning more EXP for all your activity on Listia and your existing benefits are the same!

What happens with Props?

All the Pending Props that you earned over the last year are still in your account for one more month and you can see your Props activity in your account. You can claim those available Pending Props into your own wallet pending any KYC application process. After December 16, 2021 we are no longer allowed to process Pending Props claims into wallets and this feature will be discontinued. Issuing Pending Props has been discontinued and we are no longer adjusting your Listia Props benefit level based on your Props balances (including Props in a connected wallet).

Say Hello to EXP!

Over the next few days we’ll be switching out Props for EXP! For all you old timers this will bring back a few memories from years ago when we had XP except this is a rebranding of our existing benefits program. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback about the benefits that we added when we introduced Props so all those benefits will remain intact. The way you accumulate EXP and the benefits you get will use the same system that is live today.

You’ll need to download new iOS and Android apps, but otherwise the transition should be seamless for you. We’ll have some exact dates finalized over the next few days so stay tuned!

Listia Benefits Changes – Coming Soon!

Due to the changes with the Props Project, we will be making some changes to the Listia benefits program. We will do our best to make this transition seamless for the community, and the plan is to continue offering the same benefits you have access to today! Here is what will be happening in the near future:

Props on Listia will be rebranded. We’re not 100% sure on a name yet, but if you have any ideas, please send in a suggestion via support ticket! Through this transition, we plan on making a branding change, but the ways and amounts you earn will be very similar to what you experience today.

You will keep your existing benefits. The benefits you have right now will persist through this transition.

Issuing Pending Props will stop. Once we are ready to transition to our rebranded benefits program, we will no longer issue Pending Props for actions on Listia. You will make progress towards your benefits for performing the same actions and at the same rate of progress. We will have more updates on the exact date that the transition happens.

Claiming Pending Props will be supported for at least 120 days. The Props team has committed to supporting Pending Props claims into an external wallet for at least 120 days from August 13, 2021 after successfully meeting the required conditions. After that time period, they no longer plan to support issuing Props Tokens, so it is important if you want to claim Props Tokens with respect to Pending Props balances, that you do so promptly. Claiming Pending Props will not affect your benefit levels on Listia.

Changes Coming to Props on Listia

Listia started working with Props in 2019. We had seen the potential of sharing value with our users, through a cryptographic utility token that accrues status, benefits, and a financial stake in the success of our network.

And indeed once we launched Props on Listia, in 2020, we experienced a material increase  (more than 12 percent) in user engagement. Users really love earning these new benefits as they use the Listia platform. It was a welcome change to the existing XP (experience points) system that was in place previously.

Today, Props announced that it will not continue its Loyalty Program into 2022 and has plans to end support for the Props Protocol. As large holders of Props Tokens, and as managers of a community of Props holders, we are disappointed to learn this news. We will need to adjust Listia’s loyalty program as a result, but users will continue to level up and earn benefits on the app without Props Tokens – more on this coming soon. Our goal is to make the transition on the Listia apps as smooth and seamless as possible. Everyone will keep the benefits they have worked so hard to earn. After spending several years working with the Props team and receiving this news, we have some thoughts we want to share with you in hopes that those impacted will better understand and in the spirit of ‘lessons learned’.

  1. The Props Project could have been successful but seemed to be hindered by regulatory issues:  
    • They suffered a burden a startup should never take on: reporting and qualifying changes at the level of a mature public company. This handicap should not be under-estimated and made integrating newer features on Listia challenging.
    • Props product development process suffered from a long approval (called “qualification”) process, often taking months and requiring enormous legal bills, to plan and approve new functionality.
    • The Props team could not bring to market products that they spent months building, like per-app tokens that are associated with the success of each individual app’s performance (think social tokens or community tokens for apps). We were excited to bring this to Listia, but did not get the chance.
  2. Product Development: The handicaps mentioned above proved detrimental to running a tight product development process of “launch, measure, iterate.”  It’s very difficult to run a productive team in a competitive market under these conditions.
  3. Path to full decentralization: The goal of Props’ Reg A+ offering was to be a bridging mechanism, with the project reporting to regulators during early centralized stages, and then stopping once a sufficient level of decentralization was reached. But regulation seems to be moving away from this as well. 

As a result of the Props announcement, Listia may lose a potential upside value in Props and a portion of the increased engagement. But we appreciate that the Props team did its best to tackle the regulatory challenges and constraints with creativity and determination and left no stone unturned. The new loyalty concept on Listia is here to stay, and accruing status and benefits for engaging with the marketplace is one of the more popular feature launches on Listia in some time. So we are grateful that the Listia marketplace has significantly changed for the better because of Props and want to assure the Listia community that we will do our best to ensure a smooth product transition.  

It is our hope that the experiences shared with you here about the Props project were valuable and enlightening.  Hopefully regulations will eventually change to embrace new blockchain technologies and support similar projects in the future. Introducing Listia Collectible NFT Badges

Today we are introducing something new and fun called Listia Collectible NFT Badges! These are limited edition digital badges that you can collect and win through auctions, special events, and contests.

We are dropping the first two such badges today:

When you obtain a badge, they will appear in your set of Listia badges. The ones dropping today are part of a set of 50, numbered 1-50. Each badge has it’s own number and deisgn that is distinct from the rest of the set.

In the future, badges will be transferrable outside of Listia and also sellable within Listia. That means you can collect, buy, and sell badges with your fellow Listians! Coming soon.

What is NFT?
NFT stands for non-fungible token. It is a blockchain-based technology that ensures each badge is distinct from every other badge. It also ensures that you can digitally “own” these badges. This means you will soon be able to transfer them outside of Listia into your own blockchain wallet and display or trade them elsewhere as well. Some other popular NFT collectibles are CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot. But no worries if you aren’t interested in any of that for now. You can fully experience these digital collectibles right here on Listia!

What do the badges do?
These badges are a fun way to collect and show off your interests and personality on Listia and outside of Listia. There will be more themes coming, so stay tuned! In the future, we may have badges with attached perks as well, but for now they are there for your enjoyment and to proudly display your collection.

What about existing badges?
There is no change to the existing badges on Listia. Those badges can only be earned as verifications or achievements and will always be that way. They look different as well, so you can tell them apart, and we will never allow those badges to be transferred. Being a level 6 Supersonic is no easy feat! 🙂

Do I have to buy badges?
Not at all! While we will be frequently dropping new badges as auctions, we also plan to do more giveaways, events, and contets for future badges.

Listia Marketplace and Rewards

There’s something new in town and it’s called Listia Rewards! You may have seen a post or two on social media about it, but we wanted to formally introduce and talk about it. Moving forward we’ll be adding another core concept to Listia, creating two platforms called Marketplace and Rewards. All your account settings, Points, and Props will be the same across all of the Listia platforms of course. Listia Marketplace will be what many of you are familiar with which is our buying and selling platform. Listia Rewards will be home to our earning and redeeming platform, starting with surveys, offers, and Amazon gift card redemptions!

Why the addition? We felt like the main Listia website and UI has gained a few pounds over the years and decided it was time to go on a diet! We built Listia Rewards in hopes to bring more offer companies, ways to earn Points, and ways to redeem Points without having to worry about squeezing everything into the existing pages. If you visit Listia Rewards you’ll see a light weight version of our old Listia offers page where you can navigate through all the ways you can earn Points on Listia. You can also see your Points balance, transactions, settings, redeem Points for Amazon gift cards, or continue spending Points in the Marketplace, etc.

Same account, same login, same Points and Props. Worried about a new login and account to manage? Fear not, both Marketplace and Rewards use the same login, and all your account settings and balances are the same! You can hop back and forth between both products and your account status remains the same. On the website, you are always just a link click away from either platform. If you’re wondering about Props bonuses for earning Points on offers, your Props level remains the same on both products as well!

More to come! We have a lot of plans in store for Rewards so stay tuned (more offer companies, different ways to earn, new ways to redeem, maybe a new app)! You may see some things from the Marketplace move over to Rewards just so we have a clear separation of what should go where, so don’t be alarmed! The American Apparel Listia Track Jacket

Story time! The iconic Silicon Valley startup company swag was always the company t-shirt, but for a lucky few, it was the track jacket (maybe hoodie). Listia was lucky enough to be able to get some of these made back in the day and they were ever meant to be released to the public due to their higher than t-shirt cost. Employees would get a navy blue track jacket on their first day at the office and you’d often see half of the office donning the jacket indoors because the air conditioning was always on full blast in every single one of our offices. If you ever ate lunch in downtown Mountain View, you’d often see the Listia crew eating at the various restaurants on Castro Street (Red Rock, Pho To Chau, Subway, Xanh, Shalala, Sushi Tomi, Stein’s, Totoro). A few navy blue track jackets eventually made their way to some Listia members, but for the most part they were an employee only swag piece.

The BLACK track jacket is a completely different item that only a small number of employees ever got their hands on. Throughout the years we would run office contests and competitions and the winner would likely earn a black track jacket. To say this is a rare swag item is an understatement as only a small percentage of employees ever got their hands on one!

For the first and last time, we have some of our last track jackets up in the Listia Rewards Store. Once these are gone, they will be gone forever and you’ll likely never see a new one pop up unless someone has been saving one (I may do that now that I think about it). After searching on American Apparel it also looks like they no longer have this exact style so you’ll have your chance to own a piece of Listia and American Apparel history! Only 4 black track jackets (S, L, XL, 2XL) and 4 blue track jackets remain (XL, 3 x 2XL)!

Points and Props are Live on Listia!

Listia is taking another big step in our 11 year long journey today, and we are extremely excited to launch the addition of Listia Points + the new Props rewards and leveling system!

Points

Listia Points are completely re-designed to be a simple, stable, in-app currency for buying and selling goods on Listia. For users that loved our old Credits system, but hated the fluctuating value of both Credits and XNK, this will be a HUGE upgrade and a welcome change for all. You will of course be able to continue using and spending your main XNK balances, including both deposits and withdrawals, but for the actual trading on Listia, Points is the new in-app currency.

Props

We are also introducing Props to the marketplace! Props is a brand new rewards and leveling system for all Listia users. You earn more Props for activity such as leaving feedback for a purchase or earning positive feedback after you sell something. The more Props you have, the higher your Props Level, and the higher your Props Level, the more bonuses and incentives you receive. Rewards such as lower transaction fees and bonus Points when you buy can be earned just for being an active Listia member.

All users will start off at a Props Level based on all of their previous activity, positive feedback, old XP system, balances, and social status on the site. In addition, all users that are placed in a Props Level will also receive a number of grandfathered Props to start. You will also be able to upgrade existing balances (coming soon) and continue to earn even more Props by successfully buying and selling on Listia!

In addition to Listia-specific rewards, Props also gives users a financial stake in the very networks they are contributing to. In the case of Listia, buying and selling earns you more Props, which gives you a larger and larger stake in the overall Props network. Props tokens are earn-able, withdraw-able, and usable in several other social apps too, with even more coming.
