Starting on 7/22/2010, we no longer allow auctions for prepaid credit cards (or money gift cards) from American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. This rule was put in place because these cards are very much like cash, which has never been allowed on the site. Up until now, they have been sort of a loophole in the no-cash policy. However, this rule does NOT affect other kinds of gift cards. All other gift cards (Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.) are still allowed on the site at this time.
We realize this decision is a bit controversial and we have received lots of feedback, both positive and negative on this change. As such, we are definitely interested in hearing your opinions. Feel free to open a ticket to let us know how you feel if you have not already. Thanks for everyone’s continued support!
This is a disappointment to a lot of people, i have seen the comments posted on actual auction on listia. I think its fine i see where you all are coming from , I am just glad to see that you will still be allowing Walmart, target and other STORE cards.
Ooopsie… This ban is probably in response to me trying to win a $1000 gift card! lol
Why are people allowed to auction off older coins still? By all means they are still considered spendable cash.
